Carton: cardboard, quality paper board.

Matt finisged surface cardboard is better to use, because it is good for sticking it on with glue.

Thickness

•   2.0mm:

used for boxes like a sewing box, CD/DVD box and so on...

•   1.5mm:

used for small boxes like a name card case, glasses case.

•   1.0mm: 

used for small articles like a book cover.

Cardboard is a hard board made with paper. It is called as a carton in French. So these works called as Catonnage in French.

Paperboards for paintings, or writing poems, can be used as a substitute for the cardboard.

But they are hard to be bend. So they are not good for making sircle shape box.  

★Tips!!★

Cutting 2.0mm thick cardboard accurately is really hard work. It is recommended to try cutting 1.5mm first for begginers.   

White glue: wood worker's glue or carpenter's glue.

water soluable

Rice glue:  starch glue. water soluable

Mixture glue, the white glue and rice glue, is used for making the cartonnage. 

There are some specialized glues to make cartonnage, but they are not easily obtainable.

Mixture glue is easy to obtain, use, and claenup.

Mixture ratio

White glue : Rice glue = 50 : 50 and a small amount of water

   *When do I add water?

        driness of the air, age of glue, absorbancy of the fabric

<Tips>

After the work, wash the brush with water soon, or it become hard when dried.

Ruler: straight edge. 30 centi meter scale.

Skill nife: box cutter or craft nife.

Iinpenenetable vinyl cutting mat: hard plastic or rubber base. 

<Tips>

A4~A3 size vinyl cutting mat is easy to use. 

Masking tape: matt finished surface, paper tape.

Fabric tape: tape has a fabric surface with sticky side. 

Double-sided tape: suitable to fabric, sticky hard is better to use.

Crcle shape cutter is used for make a cicle part.

It is good for cutting 2mm+ thickness cardboard, or large circle parts.

Quilting cotton sheet is good for use.

You can put it under the top fabric, then it become soft.
